My work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Atlas Obscura, Mother Jones, Bay Nature, Inside Climate News, Earth Island Journal, NPR, Cal Matters, Louisville Magazine. I report on climate change, health, and social justice. I also love spending time with jockeys and nuns.
A California native, I’ve hopped around the country as a reporter, writer and audio producer.
In 2019, I was nominated for a national City and Regional Magazine Association award in the category of civic journalism for a piece on Louisville’s eviction crisis. I’ve won several regional Society of Professional Journalists, Associated Press and Emmy awards as well as a national 2012 Alt Weekly award for my reporting on economic inequality in Louisville, Kentucky. In 2022, I helped investigate a story that won a AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Award. I’m also a finalist for the Dan Jenkins Medal for Excellence in Sportswriting and am a proud alum of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
